Every time I make a drawing or a painting, I like to imagine it as a window or doorway into one part of a place full of fantastic locations, characters, monsters, and treasures to discover. I often feel as though each piece is a documentation of my exploration of a world that already exists, and I'm simply following a thread of curiosity and mystery about what else might be hiding in the margins. In this collection I wanted to show an expansive view of that world through portraits, landscapes, and images of creatures that might live there, collecting representative pieces from many series made in my studio over the last two years. I hope that the drawings and paintings might disrupt the way we see our own world as a mundane and ordinary place, so we might notice more clearly the remarkable mystery, magic, and wonder in this seeded world.
